Leah Wilcox

Songwriter/ music artist

Midland's own Leah Wilcox is a gritty, romantic glitterball of a songwriter. With an undeniable sense of fun and quirk, her heartfelt lyrics share songs of love and the female experience in her unique Indie Pop-rock style. Starting at open mics at 15, Leah has now at 20 developed a reputation as a rising talent through her live performances encapsulating the mix of authenticity and vulnerability and eccentricity she brings to music.

Recently featuring on BBC Radio with her new release "blue." and growing up climbing her curtains in dreams to spiral on silk like P!NK in concert, last summer saw Leah fulfilling her childhood folklore when performing at festivals like TRUCK, Y?NOT Festival, DOT2DOT Nottingham, Moseley Folk. Alongside her sparkling band, expect a set with edge, elegance, and energy., Leah offers a piece of her heart and blood to people with every piece of work and performance.

A hazy sound is rooted in an English Countrygaze-Pop landscape, drawing on Indie and 70s sounds to share her journey, as a musician and through life. Within the next year, Leah is working on her debut EP, “The Morning After” , which to be recorded in January 2025 to be released in November 2025. It is a collection of songs written around ‘the morning after’ experiences of a night out.

The Story

Spending her early years in choir, Leah went to her first open mic in a pub at in the East Midlands at 15, thanks to her old teacher in school who saw her passion. She then began borrowing equipment from school to do pub gigs until she could afford her first guitar. After immersing herself in the cover music scene, she used her gigs to buy her first guitar and all her own equipment at 16, and finally to record and launch her original project at 19 in 2023.

With her first single, ‘Undergrown’ being written at 15 about the fear of change and learning how to embrace the fears and challenges of adult life when you feel not ready to tackle it, Leah’s writing style and voice holds a unique wisdom and comforting nature. She aims to nuture people within her songs like the music nursed her growing up, and helped her navigate and understand growing up.
